Opening hours
The temporary car parks, Bushfire Memorial car park and amenities are open from:
- 6am to 6pm during non-daylight saving hours
- 6am to 9pm during daylight saving hours.
Gates are locked by security at closing time. Gate opening call out fees apply. Outside of these times, alternative access points are available for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrian users.
Getting Here
University of Canberra Stromlo Forest Park (UC Stromlo) is located in the heart of the Molonglo Valley, an easy 15 minute drive (15km) from the Canberra CBD. UC Stromlo can also be accessed by bike or horse through Canberra’s extensive path and trail networks. There is no direct public transport.
Access
The main gate and vehicle access can be found at Dave McInnes Road off Opperman Avenue, via John Gorton Drive. UC Stromlo can also be accessed by bike or horse through Canberra’s extensive path and trail networks, refer to the entry points map here.
Parking
The carpark provides 487 parking spaces, including a free 15 minute drop off zone, motorbike parking, longer vehicle parking and accessible parking. Paid parking applies during site opening hours - read more here.
Horse float parking
Horse float parking areas are located at the following locations:
- UC Stromlo western car park, accessible via Uriarra Road about 2.5km west of the front gate
- Block 514, access is off Mount Stromlo Road (first gate on the left).
These entrance gates are locked, but the combination is available through Access Canberra on 13 22 81. These are the only car parks to be used by horse floats. For more information on horse riding in the ACT, please visit the Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate website.
