Stephen Hodge Criterium Cycling Circuit

Canberra’s dedicated cycling track. It is a 1.2km circuit, that varies between 8m-11m in width, which provides a venue for local clubs, sports training and international/national cycling events and races. The track is also used for multisport events (e.g. triathlon, duathlon), as well as other wheeled sports, like skateboarding or roller skiing.

  • The public are welcome to use the track, free of charge, when there are no sole use events on.
  • The track must be ridden in a clockwise direction, with slower riders keeping to the left.
  • This is a training facility, and it is common for riders to reach speeds more than 40km per hour, cyclists have priority at all times.
  • The track is surrounded by bushland, and kangaroos and other wildlife may cross the track. Please be aware of your surroundings.
  • Powered vehicles, remote control cars, ball sports and pets are not permitted on the track.
The Robert de Castella Cross Country Running Track

A dedicated 2.5km manicured grass running track turfed with soft Santa Ana Couch grass. The circuit has been designed to provide a mixture of fast, flat running combined with some tough and challenging hill sections to suit all levels and training needs.

  • No ball sports
  • No spikes
  • Pegs for marquees cannot be deeper than 20cm

The Event Room is a canteen-like area, with a microwave, fridge, bench space, tables and chairs. There is access to a canteen shutter and the PA System. The Event Room is often used for school carnivals or as a storage/first aid space during events.

The top section of the Pavilion block is a hireable space, suitable for event registration set up or small group training sessions.

A large grassed area in central location at UC Stromlo, great as an option for an event hub or a family picnic.

The Pump Track is a hub of activity, especially during Summer. The purpose-built pump track draws a crowd, whether you are warming up before the trails, finetuning your skills or racing a mate, the Pump Track is open to riders of all ages and cycling abilities.

The trials area is a mixture of both natural and artificial terrain and obstacles have been constructed using old hardwood trees, blue stone rocks and various concrete structures.

The trials area should only be ridden by competent trials riders and only on a trials specific bike with working front and rear brakes and appropriate tyres with adequate tread. There are varying degrees of difficulty and riders should only use these facilities within their own abilities. Do not ride the trials area in wet weather and/or high winds.

An Australian Standard Certified helmet is mandatory, and other padding such as gloves, knee pads, and elbow pads are highly recommended.

Hillfire caters to riders ranging from beginners to elite levels, offering a community space and a venue for BMX freestyle events. Minister Steel, stated this investment in a purpose-built BMX freestyle facility gives riders a place to call their own and offers seven elite jumps and a progressive jump line with 10 rolls and jumps catering for beginners to intermediate levels.

Stromlo Forest Park’s (SFP) network of mountain bike trails have been built and graded in accordance with the International Mountain Bike Associations (IMBA) Trail Difficult Rating System, which was adapted from the International Trail Marking System used at ski areas throughout the world. At SFP we have graded to suit most riders, from the east green graded trails to the extremely difficult double black diamond trails.

  • No runners, walkers or equestrians are permitted to use the mountain bike trails.

With over 1200 hectares of land to explore, choose from a selection of designated equestrian and shared trails. Ideal for trail rides and endurance rides.

  • On the equestrian trails, horses and their rides have right of way at all times.
  • It is important that park users are communicating during their time at the park.
